FAQ

What is kelulut honey?

Kelulut is Malaysian stingless bee honey — made by a bee smaller than a grain of rice that stores honey in resin pots rather than wax comb. It is tangier and more fluid than ordinary honey, and it contains trehalulose, a sugar found almost exclusively in stingless bee honey.

Why is it more expensive than ordinary honey?

Yield. A single kelulut hive produces roughly one kilogram a year; an ordinary honeybee hive can produce up to eighty. We price honestly against that yield, plus the cost of independent laboratory testing on every batch.

How do I know it's real?

Ask for the certificate of analysis. Every batch is tested by an accredited independent laboratory for trehalulose by HPLC, antioxidant activity by DPPH assay, and compliance with MS 2683. Each pack carries its own lot code, and we will send you the report for the batch you bought.

What does UKF mean?

UKF is the Unique Kelulut Factor — the science-backed grading standard for Malaysian stingless bee honey, assessed by an independent certifying body rather than by the producer. Honey Ritual is a participating brand.

Why is my jar a different colour from the last one?

Each jar belongs to one harvest. Colour varies with floral source, season and environment. Variation is a sign the honey is single-harvest and unblended — it does not affect quality or authenticity.

Does it crystallise?

Rarely. Kelulut honey has a higher moisture content than ordinary honey and stays naturally fluid.

Can I add it to hot drinks?

Warm, yes. Boiling, no. Heat above roughly 40°C degrades the delicate compounds. Let your drink cool for a minute before stirring the honey in.

Who should not take it?

It contains bee products and is not suitable for infants under 1 year of age. If you are pregnant, managing a medical condition or taking medication, speak with your doctor first. Nothing on this site is medical advice.
